AC EV Charging plug

First of all, the charging plug is divided into DC plug and AC plug, English is AC (Alternating Current) and DC (Direct Current). DC plug is also a high-current, high-power charging plug, which is generally equipped with a new energy vehicle fast charging station. The home is generally AC charging station, or portable charging plug. AC charging plug (AC charger) is mainly divided into three types, type1, type2, GB/T, can also be called American standard, European standard and national standard. Of course, Tesla has its own standard charging interface, but under pressure, Tesla also began to change its standards according to the market situation to make its cars more adaptable to the market, just like the domestic Tesla must be equipped with the national standard charging port.

Type1:SAE J1772 interface, also known as J-plug Basically the United States and countries with a closer relationship with the United States (such as Japan, South Korea), use the Type1 American standard charging plug, including the portable charging plug carried by the AC charging station to follow the car. Therefore, in order to adapt to this standard charging interface, Tesla also has to provide a charging plug adapter so that Tesla cars can use the public charging station of the Type1 charging port. Type1 mainly provides two charging voltages: 120V (Level1) and 240V (Level2).

Type2: IEC 62196 interface Type2 is the interface standard for new energy vehicles in Europe, and the rated voltage is generally 230V. Look at the picture may be a little like the national standard, in fact, it is easy to distinguish, the European standard is similar to Yang, the black part is hollow, and the national standard is the opposite.

GB/T: GB/T20234 National standard interface From January 1, 2016, China stipulates that as long as the charging interface of various brands of new energy vehicles produced in China must meet the national standard GB/T20234, so after 2016, new energy vehicles produced in China do not have to consider whether the charging port is suitable for the national standard, because it has been unified. The rated voltage of the national standard AC charger is generally 220V household voltage.
